LECTURES NOTES

Week 1
Today is our first class in intercultural design, we meet with our lectures which is Ms Anis, Mr Charles, Mr Adrizal, and Ms Jinchi. First we were asked to form a group of 4 or 5 with an architecture student, a 2.5 BDCM student and a 1.5 BDCM student. When everything settled, we were given our theme which is Mythology of Japan. The myths can be from god or goddess and from everyday item that have value or believes. This is the first week presentation from Mr Charles.

We were told to find the myth we were interested with, find the value of the myth and see what effect to the modern society. At first we did it wrongly and decided to skip to the final outcome, but when we did our first consultation, we were told not to do that and told just to find the myth and value, not the outcome. Ms Anis told us that if we do that, we will narrow our mind for the final outcome and won't see the big pictures. We then redoing our myths.

Week 2
On the second week we decided to do a consultation repeatedly since some of us have class with Ms Anis in different module. We have 10 at first and slowly decreasing it to some that possible to find data of and have a strong value. Those are Jorogumo, Kami structure, and Penis festival. Then we start to make our research objective and research question. After a few consultation with Ms Anis, we decided to focus more in Kami Structure. This is Ms Jinchi's presentation on the second week.

Week 3
This week we are doing our presentation, we are presenting on the 23 January but some group presenting on the 20 and 30 of January because of Chinese New year. This is our final presentation.

Week 4
Today we have another presentation for groups that couldn't make it on week 3. On these weeks, we were waiting for our trip to japan and briefed on the trip and others. On this week, my group are planning on our data collection. We make sure to know where to find our data and when to do it. We settled on a few thing, Harajuku, Yoyogi park, and Lolita shop in Harajuku. For graffiti we settled on finding them around the city.

Week 7
After the presentation, we are starting to do our final outcome. We decided to name our brand Rok-kyu. We start by sketching and analyzing the tokyo rockabily outfits and decided to go to a thrift store to find our clothes.

We were planning to find a leather jacket, boots and some pants. At first we were planning to only make 1 set of outfit but then we start having a few items and at the end we have 6 items, it is 3 pants, 1 boots, 1 leather jacket and 1 denim jacket. Aside from clothing we are also making stickers.

We start to paint each piece. For the denim jacket and black pants, we didn't really make a sketch and start to paint them as how we like it. This is the progression of making the leather jacket.
